Local Business Highlight: Kay Clays

We're kicking off our next blog series today, highlighting local businesses. Since it's women's history month, the first few weeks we'll be featuring women owned businesses. Let's start off with one of our very own babes from the Ferne team!

Today is the start of our next blog series. We're so excited about it! We will be featuring local businesses to share their stories and get their name out. Shopping local is more important than ever, and we are so blessed with such incredible small businesses right here in Michigan! First up on the blog series is a boss babe who is part of our family at Ferne: Kaylynn, owner and creator of Kay Clays.

Let's get to know more about Kay Clays

"My name is Kaylynn, hence the name Kay Clays. I’m a kindergarten teacher and have always loved making things since I was a little girl. I remember making murals on my grandma’s glass table as a kid.

I love being creative and have wanted to try and make clay earrings since college. During quarantine there wasn’t much to do so I decided to try and make earrings. I make earrings at my dinning room table in Saginaw, MI."

Where can you shop Kay Clays?

"I would love to get my earrings into more small business and continue to reach more people with my business." You can currently shop Kaylynn's beautiful pieces in person at Artistry Hair Lounge in Downtown Bay City. What other shops would you like to see Kay Clays at?

Kaylynn sells mostly larger dangle, clay earrings. You can find them on her Etsy, Kay and Clays or at pop-up events. Her next one is March 20th at Ferne in Ann Arbor. Don't miss out!

What inspires Kaylynn and what she's learned since starting her business

"I’ve been loving everything rainbow lately so I’ve been trying to make all the colors." All of Kaylynn's solid color clay earrings are the perfect accessory to add a pop of color to your wardrobe!

"I’ve learned that it’s definitely not easy to be a small business owner and it can be stressful, but when someone loves something you’ve created it’s the best feeling."

We're so happy to have this talented, creative as part of our Ferne family! Kaylynn's earrings are so beautiful and unique. Come see her later this month in Ann Arbor!

Check back next week for our next local business highlight. Hint: it's another babe from the Ferne family!
